Continuous Glucose Monitoring
Dexcom G4® PLATINUM
The next generation in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is here— the Dexcom G4 Platinum. For more information CLICK HERE.
The new Dexcom G4 incorporates a tiny sensor being placed under the skin in a similar way to an infusion site and can be worn up to 7 days at a time.1 The glucose sensor continuously measures glucose in the interstitial fluid (the fluid space between the cells). This glucose measurement is then transmitted wirelessly to either your sleek black Receiver or Animas Vibe® Insulin Pump.
CGM does not replace normal blood glucose testing however it does enable you to see what is happening in between tests. The Dexcom G4 CGM provides data up to 288 times in a 24-hour period1.
The Dexcom G4 Receiver, like the Animas Vibe®, is the first of its kind to incorporate a full colour screen. The colour screen not only makes it easy to see but the graphs are colour coded for easy interpretation.
With the trending graphs and directional arrows right there on the Receiver, the G4 lets you know where your glucose is, where it is going and how fast it is getting there and may even help you avoid serious hypoglycaemic events.
The G4 also incorporates customised alarms to suit a variety of environments and a special “hypo alert” function.
If you have tried a continuous glucose monitor before and have suffered alarm fatigue or multiple missed readings, then you will be pleased with the difference when you try the G4.
The Dexcom G4 is indicated for use in patients 2 years and older.
